Initially, only technical renovations were at order. But the feasibility study, made to achieve a “return on investment”, showed that also the building envelope needed renovation. Better insulation material and glazing were put into place, and a lot of attention was spent to avoid cold bridges. The result is astonishing : this 34 years old building meets the EPB norms, moreover, it scores better than the currently required norms.
Thanks to the better insulation of the building envelope, a lot of energy will be saved. The period during which the investment needed to be refunded, is clearly attainable.
